Designer and artist Mark Stoddart lives and works in Ayrshire, Scotland. From his workshop (founded in 1990) set among the ancient castles and lochs of his homeland, Mark creates unique, highly collectible bronze sculptures. Foremost among these is a range of beautiful and functional glass-topped coffee and dining tables with bronze-bases, some sculptured into wild animal forms, including the Hippopotamus, Tiger, Baby Elephant and Rhinoceros.
Others take their inspiration from technology, among them the Apollo Lunar Landing Module table, one of which now takes pride of place in the home of former US astronaut Buzz Aldrin. There is a great demand for Mark's art creating a waiting list which can run into months for the most popular pieces.
A limited edition of only 12 or 99 Coffee Tables and 50 Dining/Conference Tables are created. Each piece carries the designer's signature, is individually numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
"I recognised that people may not have the space for a large bronze sculpture to sit in their house, so the next best thing was to turn it into a functional item"
